Out of those buyers, approximately 1.6 million CPO vehicles were sold in 2005, amounting to about 10 percent of the total automotive sales market nationwide, according to consumer automotive information provider IntelliChoice. J.D. Power and Associates; 2005 Used Vehicle Sales and Certification Study reveals that 38 percent of late-model used-car buyers purchased a CPO model, up from 35 percent in 2004 and sales of certified cars have increased 46% since 2000. Northeast Auto Inspection Services offers the independent used car market the same opportunity to expand on the CPO market place by backing the industry with our stringent guidelines and dealership CPO Quality Seal of Approval program.

Independent dealers and name brand manufacturers can expect NAIS to provide professional and efficient inspections and evaluations from our nationwide network of skilled professionals to add quality and integrity to your used car inventory. Dealers will receive NAIS Certified plaques and point of sale merchandise as an added selling tool to accompany each vehicle that carries the NAIS Seal of Approval. All participating dealers will also have a link to the dealership website on our NAIS Quality Seal of Approval list of participating dealers page to show their customers that they have risen above their competition by providing independent vehicle evaluations of their pre-owned vehicles.

NAIS provides thorough, accurate online reports detailing the inspector's findings that are supported by digital photos and uploaded to our state-of-the-art online reporting system that support our documentation. NAIS has developed our state-of the-art online software program in order to provide the most efficient inspection reporting system available in the industry. Our clients have the ability to access completed inspection assignments and reports through our searchable database by a variety of means of all inspections performed.

NAIS brand Quality Seal of Approval point-of-sale material can be affixed to the windshield of approved vehicles in order to enhance the marketability of your used car inventory. Your customers will be rest assured when they see our NAIS Quality Seal of Approval displayed throughout your dealersip and on your used car inventory that they are getting nothing less than the best in vehicle quality.

There will be no need for the customer to ask for an independent inspection of your vehicles once they recognize the NAIS Quality Seal of Approval because they will know that the vehicle has already past a stringent quality review process that is equivalent to any manufacturer's certification standards. Every Quality Seal of Approval certified used car must be backed by a minimum 12 month / 12,000 mile limited powertrain warranty.

 

   Minimum requirements for NAIS Quality Seal of Approval

    Body Exterior

  • Body exterior panels must not show visual evidence of accident or collision damage present and must not show poor quality repairs to any part of the body
  • Body panels must not show excessive scratches that go beyond the paint
  • Body exterior must not have excessive dents or dings to any one body panel
  • Body exterior must not show rust or corrosion to any body panel
  • Body exterior must not have any damaged or missing trim
  • Glass must not show any damage other than repaiable small chips that are not spider cracked or have legs
  • Frame or Unibody must not show signs of any previous repair

            Body Interior

  • Interior must not show evidence of smoke odor and heavily soiled or stained trim or carpets
  • Interior must not show cigarette burns or tears to any part of trim
  • Interior trim and seats must not show excessive wear and tear
  • Seats must not show signs of damage or excessive wear that affect the cushion or adjustments

    Engine and Transmission

  • Engine must not have signs of heavy oil leaks that are active to a steady drip while running
  • Engine must not show evidence of abuse or abnormal operation or abnormal noise
  • Engine performance must not be insufficient and malfunction indicator lamp must not remain on during normal engine operation
  • Transmission or final drive must not have signs of heavy oil leaks that are active to a steady drip while running
  • Transmission must not show evidence of abuse or abnormal operation
  • Transmission must not show evidence of abnormal shifting or slipping
  • Coolant system must not show evidence of improper operation or overheating
  • Coolant system must not show evidence of any leaks
  • Exhaust system must not show any leaks or damage that will affect its ability to perform as originally designed
  • Exhaust system must not show any evidence of modification to the original design

    Suspension and Steering Systems

  • Suspension system must not show any leaks or damage that will affect its ability to perform as originally designed
  • Suspension system must not show any evidence of modification to the original design
  • Steering system must not show any leaks or damage that will affect its ability to perform as originally designed
  • Steering system must not show any evidence of modification to the original design

    Braking System

  • Braking system must not show any evidence of vibration during braking
  • Braking system must not show any evidence of pulling to one side during braking
  • Parking brake must hold vehicle when depressed
  • Braking system must not show any visual signs of worn out lining below 6/32 of the original thickness when visible thru wheels during inspection

    Wheels and Tires

  • Wheels must not show any damage that will affect its physical structure or excessive oxidation or scratches including curb damage
  • Tires must not show evidence of damage to sidewall or contain plugs within 1 inch from sidewall
  • Tires must have a minimum of 5/32 inch of tread depth left on all 4 tires
  • Tires must be of the same type (all season radial, black side wall, etc.)
  • Tires must be of the same brand per axle (maximum number of different brands per car - 2)
  • Vehicle must be equipped with spare tire, jack and jack tools

    Electrical Systems

  • Vehicle electric windows and sunroof (if equipped) must be in good operating condition
  • Vehicle heating and air conditioning (if equipped) must be in good operating condition
  • Vehicle instrument panel control systems and instrument cluster gauges must be in good operating condition
  • Vehicle must show evidence of having been maintained in accordance with manufacturer's specifications

    General Guidelines

  • Vehicle must not be more than 7 model years old (including current year) and must have less than 100,000 miles
  • All vehicles that are sold in accordance with NAIS Quality Seal of Approval certified program guidelines must be backed by a minimum 12 month / Unlimited Mileage Powertrain Warranties
  • Vehicle must not have expired safety inspection stickers (vehicles in states with safety inspection stickers must be have a minimum of 9 months remaining)
  • Vehicle must have a clean Carfax or Autocheck history report showing no Branded title, Lemon Law Buyback, Flood, Fire, Salvage, Junk or Rebuilt, Odometer Rollback, etc., or Total loss insurance claims
  • Vehicles equipped with aftermarket body, suspension or engine performance modifications are not eligible for NAIS Quality Seal of Approval
  • Vehicle must be in good overall condition for age and mileage
  • Vehicle must be clean inside and out
